Pissarro Gelee Blanche 1873 Great Bare Tree at Dusk Meadow Poster
A great spreading tree silhouettes against a dusk sky over a frosted meadow. This Gelee Blanche view shows Pissarro’s winter at its most dramatic.
Description
A massive bare tree commands the skyline of this 1873 Gelee Blanche scene — its branches reaching over a frost-touched meadow as dusk settles beyond Pontoise. Pissarro's brushwork turns twilight into teal, amber, and rust. The black typographic border labels the artist, year, place, and title.
