Musk Deer and Moose Elk 1892 Antique Natural History Mammal Poster
An 1892 hand-colored natural history plate, ‘Mammifères Pl. 11 bis’: a small musk deer, Moschus pygmaeus, above a great moose, Cervus alces.
Description
French captions name them 'Chevrotin' and 'Elan'; the delicate musk deer stands on a rocky ledge while the antlered moose poses among pines. A fine paired deer study for wildlife and hunting-lodge decor.
