May Day Is Jay Day 1976 Central Park Parade Cartoon Party Poster
The ninth annual Central Park Smoke In and Parade of 1976 — ‘May Day is Jay Day’ — in a wild cartoon poster bursting with storybook characters. A true piece of counterculture history.
Description
This 1976 poster announces the parade gathering at Washington Square Park at one pm and marching up Fifth Avenue to Central Park for an 'airlift' at three pm. The dancing cast of whimsical characters captures the playful spirit of the era's protest art. It is a rare and honest artifact for collectors of 1970s counterculture ephemera.
