Kumamoto Castle in Rain Kawase Hasui 1948 Japanese Art Poster
Sheets of rain fall on Kumamoto Castle’s black keep as a lone figure passes with a red umbrella. Hasui’s 1948 scene is hauntingly beautiful.
Description
Kawase Hasui's 1948 'Kumamoto Castle in Rain' hides the great castle keep among drenched green trees, diagonal rain streaking the whole composition. A single visitor with a bright red umbrella crosses the wet courtyard below the stone walls. The mood is quiet and melancholy. An atmospheric print for lovers of Japanese castles and rainy-day art.
