Kawase Hasui Saishoin Temple In Snow Hirosaki Pagoda Winter Print
A snow-draped red pagoda rises among frosted pines in Kawase Hasui’s serene winter woodblock print of Saishoin Temple, Hirosaki.
Description
This luminous shin-hanga print by Kawase Hasui captures the Saishoin Temple in Hirosaki under deep snow: vermilion temple roofs dusted white, towering cedars heavy with snow, and a lone figure with a straw umbrella crossing the quiet ground. The hushed gray-and-white palette with touches of warm red creates an atmosphere of still winter calm. A beautiful seasonal piece for a bedroom or entryway, and a cherished gift for collectors of Japanese prints.
