Hokusai Fujimigahara Owari Cooper Barrel Mount Fuji Woodblock Poster
A Hokusai favorite from the Thirty-six Views: a barrel-maker at work inside a giant wooden hoop, Mt. Fuji small on the horizon. Charming, human, unmistakably Japanese.
Description
This woodblock print from Hokusai's Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji shows Fujimigahara in Owari Province, where a cooper bends over his work inside a huge barrel hoop. A lone pine, thatched fields, and the distant cone of Mt. Fuji complete the peaceful rural scene in soft blues, greens, and warm paper tones. It adds gentle character to kitchens, studies, and hallways, and delights collectors of Hokusai's less-famous Fuji views.
