George Caleb Bingham Fur Traders Descending The Missouri Canoe Poster
Bingham’s iconic fur traders drift down the Missouri at dawn, a black cat perched on the bow. A classic of American frontier art.
Description
Two trappers rest in a dugout canoe on glassy morning water, one paddling while the other lounges, their famous black cat alert at the prow. Mist softens the far shore in bands of rose and gold. George Caleb Bingham's luminous masterpiece of Western life suits studies, lodges, and Americana collections. A quietly humorous and humane frontier scene.
