This 1889 study by Edward Burne-Jones for his Briar Rose series shows a sleeping woman resting against a wall, her dark dress pooling around her. The inscription 'EBJ 1889 BRIAR ROSE' and the sketch-like finish make it a precious glimpse into the artist's process. It adds romantic, literary atmosphere to bedrooms and studies. A treasured gift for Pre-Raphaelite devotees.
