A Burial at Ornans Coffin Carried in a Cave 1850 Courbet Poster
A coffin carried through a dark cave before a crowd of mourners, in Courbet’s Burial at Ornans spirit.
Description
This haunting poster takes its cue from Courbet's 1850 A Burial at Ornans: pallbearers carry a shrouded coffin through a cavernous dark space while a vast crowd of mourners looks on. The black border is printed with COURBET, 1850 and ORNANS FRANCE. Somber and monumental, it is a profound piece of French realist-inspired wall art.
