Hubert Robert The Bathing Pool 1777 Classical Landscape Exhibition Poster
Hubert Robert’s The Bathing Pool from 1777, a sunlit classical rotunda among trees with bathers at the water. Romantic 18th-century landscape at its most idyllic.
Description
Robert's Bathing Pool shows a circular temple of columns rising from a wooded landscape, with figures bathing in the still water below. The luminous greens and soft sky capture the romantic ideal of the classical past. The poster names the artist and dates the work to 1777 in elegant script.
