Women in black gathered around a coffin heaped with red roses, as a moving Courbet-style poster.
Description
This tender variant of A Burial at Ornans shows a row of women in black mourning dress gathered around a wooden coffin heaped with red roses. The black poster border is printed with COURBET, 1850 and ORNANS FRANCE. The single blaze of red against the darkness makes this French realist-inspired print unforgettable.
