A five-story pagoda rises through falling snow above Sarusawa Pond in Asano Takeji’s winter print. Two deer drink at the icy water’s edge.
Description
Asano Takeji's restored woodblock captures Sarusawa Pond in deep winter, the pagoda's dark silhouette ringed by snow-laden trees. Two deer bend to drink while a bare tree frames the right side. A poetic winter landscape of Nara's famous pond.
