Marseille Alexandrie Egypt Route Messageries Maritimes Poster
A French poster for the Egypt sea route from Marseille to Alexandria, fronted by a regal pharaoh-like figure. Messageries Maritimes and the P.L.M. railway share the billing.
Description
This vintage French travel poster advertises the fast mail-steamer route from Marseille to Alexandria, 'La Route d'Egypte.' The central figure holds a tiny train labeled Marseille in one hand and a ship labeled Alexandrie in the other, framed by Egyptian-style columns. A rich piece for fans of ocean-liner and railway advertising.
